Don Milani of Myth and Don Milani of History: Notes on the Personality and Testimony of the Prior of Barbiana
The event on November 20this promoted by the UNESCO ChairGenerative Pedagogy and Educational Systems to Tackle Inequality,held by Professor Emiliana Mannese, and organized by the section “History of Education: Pedagogy, Politics, and Constitution” of the Observatory on Educational Processes and Territorial Analysis at the University of Salerno. The Lectio Magistralis will be delivered by Professor Roberto Sani — Full Professor of History of Pedagogy and Education at the University of Macerata, who also served as Rector from 2003 to 2010 — and aims to provide a critical-scientific reinterpretation of the figure of Don Lorenzo Milani, focusing on both the historical-social and the pedagogical-educational dimensions that frame the commitment and testimony of the Prior of Barbiana. Within this dual framework lie the epistemological coordinates and the interpretative pathways regarding the personality and testimony of Don Lorenzo Milani, both as a figure of myth and of history.
