The commitment of Italian UNESCO Chairs to peace
On November 26, at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” a conference entitled “The Commitment of Italian UNESCO Chairs to Peace” will be held, organized by theUNESCO ChairinUrban Healthat La Sapienza, directed by Prof. Andrea Lenzi, in collaboration with theNetwork of Italian UNESCO Chairs (ReCUI). The conference aims to present the initiatives of UNESCO Chairs throughout Italy in the field of peace, with particular reference to theRecommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights, and Sustainable Developmentadopted by the UNESCO General Conference in 2023 — a topic of extreme relevance for the contemporary world. In addition to the holders of numerous Italian UNESCO Chairs and the Rector of the host university, Professor Antonella Polimeni, the conference will be attended by Monsignor Matteo Maria Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna and President of the Italian Episcopal Conference. The President of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, Antonio Patuelli, is present with a video message in which he praises the constant and crucial work of the Chairs in their educational and ethical mission, in line with UNESCO's mandate. The program includes a rich presentation of scientific and research work on the theme of peace by the individual Chairs attending the conference.
