Education, young people and the culture of peace: the International Festival concludes with Giffoni’s award to the UNESCO Chair for the documentary film ONE LOVE

On Friday 8 May, the third edition of the international festival “Generative Pedagogy and Thinking Communities”, entitled Generative Learning and Emancipation. Authentic Life between Kairós and Kronos, concluded at the University of Salerno. The event was promoted and organised by the UNESCO Chair “Generative Pedagogy and Educational Systems to Tackle Inequality” (Chair holder: Prof. Emiliana Mannese).

The third day of the Festival was dedicated to education as a means of empowerment, participation and peace-building, focusing on the active role of young people, the value of artistic expression, and the need to strengthen educational and cultural networks to tackle inequality.

A particularly significant moment was the recognition given by Giffoni to the UNESCO Chair “Generative Pedagogy and Educational Systems to Tackle Inequality” for the documentary film ONE LOVE, produced as part of the E.Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y. (Educating and Empowering Young People through Art and Transformative Interdisciplinary Languages 4 Young) project, developed in partnership with the PERCORSI Consortium and with the active involvement of students from the “L. Di Prisco” Comprehensive School in Fontanarosa (AV).

The documentary film ONE LOVE exemplifies educational action research which, through cinema, art, and storytelling, promotes processes of awareness, expression, and the development of Thinking Communities, in accordance with the paradigm of Generative Pedagogy and the O.Ge.S.O. methodological protocol (Generative Orientation and Organisational Systems).

During the day, the O.E.C.P. HUB – Guidance and Empowerment for a Culture of Peace – was also presented. This initiative is promoted by the Standing Committee on ‘Educational Strategies’ of the Network of Italian UNESCO Chairs (ReCUI), coordinated by Prof. E. Mannese. The HUB is designed as a multi-level educational infrastructure aimed at building networks between universities, schools, local areas, cultural organisations and educational communities, with particular focus on the themes of peace, generative guidance, and educational and social justice.

The conclusion of the Festival encapsulated the overall purpose of the initiative: to create spaces for dialogue between education, art, research, institutions and local communities, promoting cultural processes capable of generating participation, responsibility and social transformation.

Through the involvement of scholars, students, institutions, artists and communities, the International Festival “Generative Pedagogy and Thinking Communities” reaffirms its status as a cultural and scientific platform of national and international significance, committed to the public dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of educational futures founded on peace, emancipation and the shared construction of the common good.
